July is World Watercolor Month - at least according to Dick Blick's! They are currently running a 31 day watercolor challenge for which artists can post a watercolor painting a day during the entire month of July. Unfortunately, there's no way for me to keep up with that challenge, but I was inspired to work on a project that I have been putting off for a while. A couple years ago I painted a watercolor of one of the yellow irises in my back yard. I had wanted to do more botanical paintings and then create greeting cards with them, but had never gotten around to it. So today, I took the opportunity to bring that project to the front burner again and started continuing this series with a rose painting. I hope to create a few more before turning them into greeting cards - and who knows how long that will take! But, at least it's a start and something fun to work on during the summer.
